Love Your Body Week 2019

heart shape, paint splashed around itFebruary 25th - March 1st is Love Your Body Week! Throughout the week the University Health Center, Counseling Center, RecWell, and LGBT Equity Center will be spreading messages of education, awareness, self-reflection, and self-love. Keep a lookout for post-it notes containing body positive messages. There will also be a bright & colorful pick-me-up at each of the cardio machines at the Eppley Recreation Center.

Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary Embrace which explores the global epidemic of body shaming and how we can make positive change. We will have a panel discussion following the screening with clinicians from the Counseling Center and Health Center.

Love Your Body, Move Your Body: Yoga Restore and Meditate

Appreciate all that your body can and does by joining us for a mindful yoga practice. The Counseling Center will lead us into this practice geared toward body acceptance and appreciation facilitated by RecWell.

Our Bodies, Ourselves: Nourishing the Mind, Body, and Spirit of African Descent Women

Prince George's Room, The Stamp Student Union

This interactive session will discuss the types, prevalence, and nuances of eating disorders for women of color. The presentation will be framed within a cultural context and present a historical overview of the utilization of food within the African American community and it's impact on the psychological well being of African American women.
