My name is Arina Kadam and I am currently a sophomore Chemistry major. This will be my first year on SHAC and I am very excited to be part of the link between the Health Center and the student body. After coming to UMD I have seen that not very many students are aware of the Health Center’s services. Since we have such a diverse student body here at Maryland, it is really important to make sure everyone is getting the right information. As a member of SHAC, I hope to reach out to all the different types of students on campus, and inform them about services which may be of interest to them. I look forward to a progressive, successful year with SHAC! Alex KestenbaumHi, my name is Alex Kestenbaum, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering. I look forward to communicating with all of you in order to learn your views on the services offered by the University Health Center and sharing this insight with the Health Center administration to improve the weaknesses of the services offered. I joined S.H.A.C. because I want to be a voice for the students. I would like to improve healthcare services and increase health awareness on campus. I encourage all to challenge us to be better advocates and educators and help make our UM community feel more confident about caring for their health. Amy HillmanMy name is Amy Hillman, and I'm a junior Public Health major from Calvert County, MD. I plan on going to nursing school when I graduate and eventually becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I am also a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. I joined SHAC to help students at Maryland have great experiences at the health center, and also to become more involved in a healthcare setting. I think there are a lot of resources at the health center that students at Maryland don't know about, and I want to help make them aware of what is available. Nicholas MongelluzoNick Mongelluzzo is a Sophomore Government and Politics major from Bowie, Maryland. He decided to get involved with the Student Health Advisory Committee after experiencing firsthand the effects of poor education in regards to student health. Yan LiHi, my name is Yan Li and I am a Senior majoring in Biochemistry and Economics. This is my third year in SHAC. I joined SHAC because it seemed like a really good way to get the students voices heard at the University Health Center. Providing feedback about the UHC and ways to improve it ensures that the students are happy with the services provided. It is important for the University community to know all the different services the UHC provides and ways to take advantage of those. I volunteer at the University of Maryland Medical Center and work in an organic synthesis lab on campus. I hope to attend medical school in the future. |
