Tips Before You Drink

Important tips to lessen the chances of having negative things happen if you drink

  • Know your limits. Decide on alcohol-free drink to have after you've hit your limit.
  • Try to avoid drinking on an empty stomach. Snack while you are drinking.
  • Pace yourself. The body only processes about 1 drink per hour.
  • Avoid chugging or gulping drinks.
  • Don't drink and drive. (Call a cab, an escort, or take the shuttle.)
  • Watch your drink--be cautious of Predatory ("date"-rape) drugs.
  • Make sure to drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid mixing alcohol with other drugs.
  • Know when to get help. If you think you or someone else needs immediate assistance, call 911.
  • Drink reduced alcohol beer instead of mixed drinks.
