Oxycontin/Oxycodine

Also Known As: Oxycotten, Oxy, O.C.

Oxy is a semi-synthetic derivative of the opium poppy, and is a relative of such drugs as heroin and morphine. Oxycontin is a prescription drug that may be prescribed for pain management. Oxycontin is a Central Nervous System depressant that also has analgesic (pain numbing) properties. Oxy has also been abused by some people as a club drug.

Effects

  • Drowsiness
  • Pain numbing
  • Euphoria
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Coma and/or Death

Special Considerations

Substances derived from opium may be highly addictive.
