And other ways to tell people your limit with alcohol.
Know what you want to say before someone offers you a drink.
For example:
- "No thanks."
- "I'm still feeling it from last night" (Useful even if you didn't drink last night)
- "I've got a huge test tomorrow" (Again this works even if you don't have a test!)
- "I'm on medicine so I can't"
- "I've had more than enough already!"
Pretend you're drinking
Carry an empty can or a soda with a lime or lemon wedge
With a little help from your friends...
Find a group of friends who are non-users or who respect your choice not to drink.
Alternatives
There are many alternatives that you can enjoy alcohol-free.
- Attend a Terps Game. (Go Terps!)
- Take Salsa dancing at the Clarice Smith Center
- Go to the gym with a friend
- Join a student group
- Etc...
