And other ways to tell people your limit with alcohol.

Know what you want to say before someone offers you a drink.

For example:

  • "No thanks."
  • "I'm still feeling it from last night" (Useful even if you didn't drink last night)
  • "I've got a huge test tomorrow" (Again this works even if you don't have a test!)
  • "I'm on medicine so I can't"
  • "I've had more than enough already!"

Pretend you're drinking

Carry an empty can or a soda with a lime or lemon wedge

With a little help from your friends...

Find a group of friends who are non-users or who respect your choice not to drink.

Alternatives

There are many alternatives that you can enjoy alcohol-free.
  • Attend a Terps Game. (Go Terps!)
  • Take Salsa dancing at the Clarice Smith Center
  • Go to the gym with a friend
  • Join a student group
  • Etc...
