Inclement Weather Policy
Please be advised that these are general guidelines and the opening and closing of the Health Center may vary depending on the severity of the weather. During inclement weather, be sure to check the Health Center website regularly.
For life-threatening or Mental Health Emergencies, call 911 or (301) 405-3333 (University of Maryland Police Department). Click here for a list of area hospitals and their contact information.
Please note, the After Hours NurseLine is always available to give advice when the Health Center is closed. You can call the NurseLine at 301-314-9386.
Scenario 1: Campus is closed all day
The Health Center’s Urgent Care will usually be open from 9AM to 12PM with limited services. All other departments and services, including lab, pharmacy, and x-ray, will be closed. Hours may vary depending on weather condtions. Please check our website's home page for updates.
Scenario 2: Campus has delayed opening
The Health Center will open the same time as the campus. All appointments prior to the delayed opening time will be cancelled. Students may reschedule appointments either via the web at www.myuhc.umd.edu, or by calling 301-314-8184 after the Health Center opens. Once open, services will be available as per normal operating hours (see “Hours" tab at top of page ).
Scenario 3: Campus closing early
Appointments occurring after the closing time are canceled. The Health Center will attempt to notify patients and reschedule the canceled appointments. All other services will end at the closing time. Urgent Care will remain open until 5pm depending upon conditions. Check website for closing time.
Scenario 4: Campus is closed on a Saturday.
The Health Center’s Urgent Care will be open 9AM to 12PM with limited services depending upon conditions. Check website for closing time.
