HWP Volunteers.

Student volunteers will be involved with all the program projects, for example the may:

  • interpret for medical care providers in the Health Center and at worksite clinics.
  • fulfill administrative tasks such as interacting with patients coming into the HWP office on a day-to-day basis
  • facilitate various health education classes
  • translate health material

The HWP gives volunteers the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the health care field. In addition, students will have the opportunity to develop cultural sensitivity in working with different populations. It will also provide insight into the medical needs of the working poor. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply.

Internship Opportunity

Students may apply to gain internship credits for their volunteer work at HWP. For more information click here.

Other Requirements

If accepted, students will be required to complete:

  • An orientation session at the beginning of the semester
  • A Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training and sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • A medical interpretation training session
