The University Health Center does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, disability or ethnicity.
Please note that due to confidentiality issues, electronic medical records, and lack of clinical skills, volunteers will be provided a limited amount of direct patient contact at the Health Center.
Volunteers must adhere to a strict patient confidentiality policy and may not begin work until a confidentiality statement is signed and HIPAA Training has been received.
Each volunteer is required to commit to a minimum of two consecutive semesters, 3 hours or more per week, with a minimum of 2 hours per time slot, and at least 30 or more hours per semester.
Interested applicants must submit their résumé, class schedule and a personal statement explaining why they are interested in volunteering and in which unit they would like to volunteer, at least 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the Spring or Fall semester.
Each application will be reviewed and an appointment will be scheduled for you to come in for an interview. If you are accepted for a volunteer position, placement and a schedule will be finalized and orientation dates set.
These items should be sent to Elizabeth Zapata via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is mandatory that each new volunteer attend a Health Center orientation session and an orientation for the unit he/she will be volunteering before starting.
