Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

The next open enrollment period for graduate and undergraduate students is May 15, 2013 to June 30, 2013.  The coverage period is June 1, 2013 to August 14, 2013.  Students must be enrolled in Summer Session 1 to be eligible to enroll for Summer health insurance coverage.  For plan information or to enroll please visit www.firststudent.com.

UMD Mandated Insurance Waiver Program Information

All undergraduate students enrolled in 6 or more credit hours are required to show proof of health insurance coverage by completing an on line waiver card.  Registered students must complete the waiver card by July 15, 2013 to avoid being billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan on their July Bursar account.  The waiver site (www.firststudent.com) is now open.. 

A new waiver is required for the 2013-2014 academic year.   Waiving coverage in the previous school year does not exempt you from  waiving coverage  for the new academic year.

If you wish to enroll, you must enroll for each academic year.

**Graduate Students are exempt from the waiver program.
